Safety & Safeguarding

Keeping lessons safe, calm and welcoming

Before lessons take place we ask for some information about the swimmer. It's quick, it's kept secure, and it helps every lesson run safely.

The information you provide is used to help us plan and deliver swimming lessons safely. Please provide information that is relevant to the swimmer's participation in swimming lessons.

Safeguarding

Lessons are delivered by a fully DBS checked instructor. Children are treated with respect and care, and any concerns are handled sensitively and appropriately.

Supervision

Parents and guardians remain responsible for their child before and after the lesson, including in changing areas, and are asked to stay at the pool for the duration of children's lessons.

Emergency procedures

Lessons follow the pool's own emergency procedures. Emergency contact details are collected at booking so that someone can always be reached quickly.

Health information

We ask about medical conditions, allergies, injuries and additional needs that could affect swimming, so lessons can be planned safely.

Disabilities & additional needs

Please tell us about any additional needs. Sharing this early means lessons can be adapted and expectations discussed before the first session.

Water confidence & ability

Knowing a swimmer's current ability, previous experience and confidence in water helps set the right starting point and avoids anyone feeling out of their depth.

Consent

For children, a parent or guardian confirms they have authority to give consent. Consent choices are recorded separately and can be changed by contacting us.

Safe behaviour around the pool

Swimmers are asked to follow the instructor's directions and the pool's rules — no running on poolside, and no entering the water until asked.

Swimwear & equipment

Appropriate swimwear is required. Goggles are welcome. Any equipment used in lessons is provided or agreed in advance.

Photography & video

Photographs or video are only ever taken with explicit, separate consent — booking a lesson never implies consent, and you can decline without affecting your booking.

How your information is protected

Health and safeguarding information is stored separately from ordinary booking details and is only accessible to the instructor through a secure, password-protected admin area. It is never shown in emails, never included in links, and never used for marketing. See our privacy policy for more.
